Active trading over the past week has resulted in firmer granular prices on the week, but the spot price escalation in the Chinese market has clearly slowed. Numerous granular cargoes have been concluded in the range of $208-215/t cfr with buyers in both the Yangtze River and south China stepping in. Middle East and North American origin sulphur cargoes have again been traded above and below this price range. In the main, sell-side price ideas ranged upwards of $215/t cfr this week, although a buyer refused lifting a cargo offered at $218/t.
