Prices rise on US stockdraw

Crude prices rose, boosted by a larger-than-expected 14.5mn bl weekly draw in US crude inventories and by data showing firm Chinese crude imports in August. Atlantic basin benchmark North Sea Dated rose by $4.43/bl to $49.36/bl, while US marker WTI increased by $4.46/bl to $47.62/bl. US sour WTS discounts to WTI widened by 55￠/bl to a nine-month low of $2.55/ bl. Values fell ahead of a 10-day shutdown at Plains All American’s Basin pipeline system, which will restrict WTS shipments to the Cushing crude storage hub in Oklahoma, limiting the grade’s outlets.
