Opec liftings rise at end of 2017

Opec liftings climbed sharply in November-December, led by an increase in Mid- east Gulf shipments and higher Nigerian exports. Liftings of just over 25mn b/d last month were the highest since February but still well down on a pre-production agreement peak of 28mn b/d in November 2016. Preliminary estimates suggest a dip in long-haul sailings in early February, consultancy Oil Movements says. US refineries have already begun shutting for maintenance, while turnarounds and weakening products margins are capping Chinese crude demand.
