Downward revisions to global economic growth projections by the IMF and OECD are fltering through to demand growth estimates for 2019-20. Demand growth this year is now forecast at 960,000 b/d, down from 1.04mn b/d previously, Argus Consulting says, while 2020 growth is forecast at 1.35mn b/d, down by 100,000 b/d. Next year’s forecast would be much lower were it not for the IMO’s tighter sulphur cap on marine fuels, which will push up middle distillate demand when it takes efect in January.
