Dwindling export fows and obscure ties at state-owned PdV’s PetroZamora joint venture ofer a glimpse into the broader decline of Venezuela’s oil sector. PetroZamora is one of 15 joint ventures in PdV’s western division. The region is the least transparent of the company’s three divisions in terms of upstream data and information. The western area, mainly located in Zulia state, is produc- ing less than 150,000 b/d, around half of which is coming from PetroZamora, PdV ofcials say. It produced more than 1mn b/d in the 1990s.
