Australian mineral exploration spending grows

Mineral exploration expenditure in Australia rose to a fiveyear high in July-September, with spending on base metals and coal leading gains across all minerals. Exploration expenditure rose by 22.5pc to A$582.1mn ($428mn) in the latest quarter from A$475.2mn a year earlier, reaching the highest level since July-September 2013, according to the latest mineral and petroleum exploration report from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
