Chinese government officials are planning to meet with theirUS counterparts in late August for the first formal tradetalks in several months, in a tentative sign of progress in thecountries' troubled trade relations.China's deputy commerce minister Wang Shouwenand other officials will travel to the US to negotiate witha delegation headed by treasury undersecretary DavidMalpass, the Chinese commerce ministry said today. Themeeting has not been confirmed by the US government.
