ARA coal stocks inch lower

Coal stocks in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region edged down today, despite reduced coal burn in northwest Europe last week. Stocks at the four main ARA terminals stood at 4.15mn t today, down by 35,000t on the week and by more than 800,000t compared with the four-year average for late January. EMO stocks rose by 100,000t to 2.5mn t, which was offset by an equal decline at the OBA terminal to 1.2mn t. Inventories at the smaller Ovet and EBS terminals fell by 30,000t and 5,000t, respectively, to 285,000t and 165,000t.
