Exxaro sees 2018 exports below forecast

South African mining firm Exxaro Resources expects 2018 export sales to reach 7.6mn t, little changed on 2017 and 5pc below its forecast. The company cites sluggish sales into India in August- September — China's restrictions on imports resulted in Australian and Indonesian volumes being diverted to India, displacing deliveries from South Africa. “Current demand from India for lower-quality South African coal is still subdued, given the cheaper options from Australia and Indonesia,” Exxaro said.
