Most fob Indonesia prices fell again, although signs emerged by the end of the week that the actively-traded GAR 4,200 kcal/kg (NAR 3,800 kcal/kg) market might be stabilising following an increase in enquiries from Chinese buyers. More deals were concluded this week than in recent weeks and Chinese bids for December-loading geared Supramax GAR 4,200 kcal/kg cargoes held steady at around $28/t, although bids for this grade from Indian buyers were lower, at $25-26/t. Most offers were at $29- 30/t. An indicative bid for an early December-loading geared shipment was heard at $29/t, although this was for especially prompt loading. December-loading Supramax cargoes of this grade traded in a $28.20-29.50/t range this week, lower than similar deals concluded last week, which were in a $29-31/t range, while a December-loading Panamax cargo of the same grade traded at $29.50/t. But this cargo size is not captured by the Argus index, which only includes geared Supramaxes for this type of coal.
