China's Qinhuangdao stocks edge lower

Coal stocks at China's key transshipment port of Qinhuangdao fell slightly this week, as offtake levels edged higher than inbound railings. Stocks at Qinhuangdao in north China hit 7.2mn t today, down by 3,500t or less than 1pc from 12 October, according to data released by the coal industry association the CCTD. Stocks had hit a nine-month high at 7.26mn t on 11 October. inbound coal volumes to Qinhuangdao rose by 1.9pc or 83,00t to 4.36mn t this week, as the Chinese government asked coal producers and rail companies to ensure that coal stocks were at reasonable levels ahead of the 19th party congress in Beijing this week.
