European coal prices compound gains

European-delivered prices extended gains as cargoes traded at near year-highs, with buyers looking to build stock ahead of the winter heating season on the continent. Argus assessed the daily cif Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) index at $90.25/t today - up on the day, while the weekly index gained by 99 cents/t from a week earlier to $89.35/t cif ARA. Five index-relevant trades took place during the week, with two October-delivery cargoes changing hands at $90.50/t des Amsterdam-Rotterdam today, the costliest trades in the European market since 11 January.
