Import restrictions at Chinese ports weighed on coal prices again this week, with many market participants preferring to delay the arrival of Australia and Indonesian cargoes until next year. Fob Newcastle NAR 5,500 kcal/kg and cfr south China NAR 5,500 kcal/kg prices declined because of growing discharging difficulties at China's southern ports as well as the increasing availability of December-loading cargoes. The fob Newcastle NAR 5,500 kcal/kg price fell for the fifth consecutive week, by $1.14/t to $72.93/t on plentiful December supply and the lowest Argus-assessed price since early August.
