Tata Power takes steps to lift Mundra operations

Indian utility Tata Power is taking further steps to cut losses at its 4GW imported coal-fired Mundra power project and ensure its future viability. The company is moving ahead to sign supplementary contracts with the western states of Gujarat and Maharashtra — two out of five states that consume electricity from the project — to get a higher tariff, its chief executive Praveer Sinha said yesterday.
