API 2 year-ahead rises to four-week high

European coal swaps rallied during afternoon trading today, with the calendar 2021 contract gaining value for a fifth consecutive session to close at a four-week high. The API 2 year-ahead contract lost value during morning trading and slumped to an intra-day low of $60.50/t at 09:28 GMT, before pressing higher during the afternoon to close at $61.55/t, up by $0.60/t compared with the previous close. The calendar 2021 swap closed at its highest level since 16 January and has now gained $3.20/t since hitting a multiyear low on 10 February.
