Polish coal imports set to decline in 1H 2020

Polish thermal coal imports are expected to decline for a second consecutive year in 2020, although demand for some imported grades may recover in the second half of the year. Weak demand caused by unseasonably warm weather and high stocks of unsold thermal coal at mines, ports, rail terminals and generation plants — estimated by traders to be at least 13mn t — have reduced importers' appetite to bring more cargoes to Poland.
