China’s Daqin rail haulage volume falls in May

The amount of coal transported on China’s key coaltransporting Daqin rail line fell in May because of curbs on coal production and scheduled maintenance on the line. The Daqin rail line, which mainly connects China’s secondlargest coal-producing Shanxi province to the transshipment hub of Qinhuangdao port, transported 31.63mn t last month. This was done by 21pc on a year earlier. Daqin had regular spring maintenance during 1-28 May, curbing the amount of coal transported during the period. The maintenance was done over 7-30 April last year.
