Seasonal demand to support South Korean imports

South Korean coal imports fell on the year in April, but rebounded from March. Thermal coal and lignite imports fell by 476,000t, or 6pc, on the year to 7.9mn t in April, according to customs data. But they were up by 1.2mn t on the month, following the easing of winter coal-fired plant constraints, and as utilities restocked in anticipation of higher power demand for cooling.
