China's coastal freight rates diverge

China’s coastal freight rates for domestic coal vessels have diverged over the past week, with rates continuing to rise on some key routes but declining on others amid lower temperatures. Freight rates for 50,000-60,000t coal vessels loading at the key coal handling port of Qinhuangdao in north China and discharging at south China's Guangzhou port edged up to 41.4 yuan/t ($5.78/t) yesterday from Yn40.9/t a week earlier.
