China’s Daqin coal haulage volumes fall in June

Haulage volumes on China's Daqin coal rail line fell by 8pc in June from a year earlier, possibly because of weak demand and an increase in available rail capacity on alternative routes. The Daqin rail line, which mainly connects the coal- producing heartland of Shanxi province to Qinhuangdao port, transported 35.82mn t of coal in June, down by 7.78pc from a year earlier. June’s total was also down by 4mn t or 10pc from 39.82mn t in May. That brought total shipments on the Daqin line to 218.2mn t in the first half of this year, a 3.16pc decline year on year.
