In order to improve the corrosion resistance and formability of ferritic stainless steels, refining process has been developed to reduce the contents of carbon and nitrogen. As a result, the (C+N) content has been lowered to half of the past level in a decade. Since the corrosion resistance and formability of stainless steels greatly depend on (C+N) contents (1) (2), the properties obtained before should be now reviewed. Besides, the (C+N) contents could become much smaller when the refining technology would be progressed in future. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of (C+N) contents on the properties of high purity ferritic stainless steels. In this report, recrystallizaiton behavior, which is important for controlling grain size and mechanical properties, will be discussed. 2.
