Work hardening behavior of ultralow carbon martensitic steel is important to understand because this material is sometimes used after cold working. In our previous study, it has been clarified that an ultralow carbon martensitic stainless steel hardly exhibits work hardening by cold rolling although the dislocation density and the substructure are significantly changed. In this study, the cold-rolled ultralow carbon martensitic steel (Fe-18 percent Ni alloy) was tensile tested, and then the dislocation strengthening in yield stress was quantitatively estimated by using Bailey-Hirsch relationship.
