PET Prices

The price of virgin PET is weakening due to declining para-xylene and ethylene glycol prices and lower operational costs, plus the impending opening of new resin production capacity in North America. Recent price drops totaling more than five cents per pound have pushed resin values back to early spring levels. On the recycling front, a weak U.S. dollar and waning economic concerns over the SARS issue have led to a sizable increase in export bale demand.
