Q3 steel product output down 40% at Ukraine’s Metinvest

Metinvest Group reduced output of steel products by 40% in Q3 due to the military conflict in the east of Ukraine. According to the company’s press release, the output of crude steel fell by 42%, that of pig iron – by 44% “due to raw material supply constraints at Azovstal and Ilyich Steel brought about by damage to railway stations during the conflict in Eastern Ukraine and the shutdown of production at Yenakiieve Steel as of August 13, 2014.”
