A downturn in Chinese plate prices is gaining momentum in both export and domestic markets. Demand stays critically low. It seems that Asian traders had a point when they predicted that Chinese plate prices would fall below the $500/t FOB mark. In a week, mills of northern China have dropped export offers again: Tianjin Steel and Tangshan Plates – by $12/t and $2/t to $485/t FOB and $495/t FOB respectively.
