Ukrainian pig iron exporters have returned to the US market amid a surge in demand. Moreover, local consumers have had to accept high prices due to a shortage of the material. Unscheduled repairs at DRI plant of Nucor that paralysed production of own material have triggered a major hike of import pig iron demand in the US market. “No one knows how much time it [repairs] will take, but every single day of outages led to increasing needs in material,” a market participant told Metal Expert.
