Deal prices for US scrap rise in Turkey, European scrap stable

After some talks, Turkish steelmakers have expectedly signed import contracts for scrap, in which they accepted higher prices given the billet market picture. Due to the unstable situation, billet supplies from the CIS are limited, while prices keep rising. “Lower billet supply from the CIS, which drives prices up, has finally affected Turkish mills’ positions in talks. They cannot push for reductions that firmly anymore,” a trader told Metal Expert.
