Seeds of Ethiopian mustard (Brassica carinata) line C101, with average glucosinolate content (_125 mumol/g), were treated with 1% (v/v) ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS). The 1011 M1 and 8331 M2 progeny were screened for total glucosinolate content usingnear infrared reflectance spectroscopy. A high-glucosinolate line (N2-6215) was selected (with glucosinolate contents of 257.8, 229.1 and 236.3 mumol/g in the M2, M3 and M4 generations, respectively) which can be used in studies on the inheritance of glucosinolate content in this species.
