Mauritius to get third fibre optic subsea connection

Indian Ocean Exchange (IOX), a subsidiary of INDOI, has signed a memorandum of understandingwith Mauritian Telecom to build an undersea cable system - called the IOX Cable System -connecting Africa and Mauritius.The $150 million project will build the third independent undersea cable connecting Mauritius to Africaand the rest of the world. The other two cables are the 12,000 km Africa-1 cable which is currentlybeing built, with completion in 2018 and the SAFE cable, constructed in 2002.
