Imports feed rise in India's steel consumption

India's use of finished steel products grew by 4.3% to 80.3 MT in the financial year ended 31 March, compared with the previous year, according to government figures."Such growth was mostly led by imports, which accounted for 14% in total steel consumed by the country during the year, given that production for sale was down by 1.1% during this period," the steel ministry's joint plant committee (JPC) reported.
