NOTES ON SOME INDO-PACIFIC PONTONIINAE, XLVIII. ONYCOCARIS NIELI SP NOV., A NEW PONTONIINE SHRIMP FROM HERON ISLAND, QUEENSLAND

摘要

A new species of the pontoniine shrimp genus Onycocaris Nobili, 1904, O. Mali, from the Great Barrier Reef, is described and illustrated. This species most closely resembles O. temiri Mann, 2005, known only from Vietnam but is readily distinguished by differences in the armament of the second pereiopod chelae. This raises to 16 the species number of this genus, which is known only from the tropical Indo-West Pacific region. A key for their identification is provided.
