Parents and progeny from a 4 X 4 diallel cross involving 2 highly resistant strains (94-217 and 94-231) and 2 highly susceptible strains (94-219 and 94-273) were inoculated with A. brassicae spores at the 2-leaf seedling stage and evaluated for disease resistance. Reciprocal crossing effects for resistance were not significant, and additive gene effects were more important than dominance effects. Heritability was high, with broad and narrow sense heritabilities being 0.85 and 0.81, respectively.
