The US' Federal Communications Commission (FCC) plans to make the reporting of faults on subseacables mandatory during its monthly meeting this September by issuing a notice of proposedrulemaking (NPRM). The FCC is aiming to put together a draft NPRM that will require subsea cablelicensees to report outages in sufficient detail through the FCC's Network Outage Reporting System(NORS).
