Global autos output starts 2015 on positive note

The first set of light vehicle production data in 2015 show that global output grew by 3.4% y/y in January, picking up from 1.4% growth in Q4 2014, according to data from LMC Automotive.Chinese light vehicle output soared by 13.6% y/y in January. This pace of growth easily outperforms our expectations, but activity in January and February is typically affected by Chinese New Year (the timing of which varies each year) and we will be able to say more about the underlying state of China's auto industry next month.
