Prediction of 3.1% fall in Chinese steel output

The Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute (MPI) in China has forecast that thecountry's crude steel production will decline for a second year as a slowing economy is depressingdemand.Output will go down by 3.1% to 781 Mt next year, the MPI said. Its projection is similar to sector bodyCisa, which has forecast production of around 783 Mt in 2016, a decrease of 2.9% on this year's likelytotal of 806 Mt (CRU Views - Steel, 19 November 2015).
