Companies at both ends of the steel-making chain are reported to be planning to lay off workers in thecoming months.German steel maker Salzgitter intends to axe several hundred jobs at its plants in Ilsenburg im Harz,Muelheim/Ruhr, Hamm, and Siegen because of what was described as the ongoing crisis in the industry.
