According to Turkey's state news agency Anatolia, some 231 employees of the petrochemical producer have been arrested in connection with the failed coup launched by the military on July 15. Among the detainees were Petkim's CEO Saadetin Korkut, deputy CEO Muhammet Altay 02gur, Corporate Communications Manager Memduh Taslicali, and Head of Security (and retired colonel in the Turkish armed forces) Serhat Ozmilli. According to SOCAR Turkey, which owns 51.39% of Petkim, only 27 staff were in fact removed, and operations at the company's sole production facility at Aliaga were not affected. Anar Mammadov, former CEO of SOCAR's Greek subsidiary, was reported to have been installed as Petkim's new head.
