Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI) is to shut down its grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES)operations, until it is again able to earn an acceptable return on capital from selling that variety ofsteel.Idling is expected to be completed by April. GOES are produced at Brackenridge and finished at theBagdad mill, both in Pennsylvania.
