Port Hedland's iron ore exports increase by a fifth

Foreign shipments of iron ore from Port Hedland in Western Australia were 439.6Mt in the financial year ending 30 June, a rise of 21% on the previous year. China bought 373.2 Mt, equal to 84.9%, of the total.Exports achieved a record 38.3 Mt in June, up 14% year-on-year, according to the Pilbara Ports Authority. Dispatches to China were 32.6 Mt, equal to 85.1% of the aggregate, and 3% higher than in May.
