Worldsteel predicts reduced steel demand

The World Steel Association this week forecast that global steel consumption will decrease by 0.8% to1.488 bnt this year, following a contraction of 3.0% in 2015.But for 2017 the prediction is that steel use around the world will grow by 0.4% to 1.494 bnt.Chairman of the association's economics committee, T V Narendran, said: "The economic environmentfacing the steel industry continues to be challenging with China's slowdown impacting globally across arange of indicators.
