First record of the non-indigenous crab, Charybdis hellerii (A. Milne-Edwards, 1867) from French Guyana (Decapoda, Brachyura, Portunidae)

The exotic species, Charybdis hellerii (A. Milne-Edwards, 1867), which entered the western Atlantic through ballast-mediated invasion approximately between 1987 and 1988, is now recorded for the first time from French Guyana. In the western Atlantic,C. hellerii spread extremely fast and is currently well established in a number of localities between Fort Pierce, subtropical Florida (27 deg N), and as far south as Santa Catarina (27 deg S), on the warm-temperate coast of Brazil.
