Prices of BF Wire Rods for Asia Fall by $20-30 for This Qtr Shipt

Export negotiations on steel wire rods for Asia by the Japanese blast furnace (BF) mills seem to have ended witha decrease in prices mostly by $20-30 for shipments of this quarter (October-December) except those for some areas forDecember shipment. Worsened sales volume of the Japanese automotive industry in overseas from the latter half of thisquarter seems to have affected negotiations by the BF mills. A recovery in sale of Japanese automobiles is said to bedelayed in Thailand and Indonesia. Korea’s POSCO mounted an offensive at cheap prices against customers for whichthe Japanese mills had anticipated to be able to settle at levelling off of prices, so the Japanese mills ended up counteringit with a decrease in prices. The company is reported to have moved to secure quantity reducing its prices as much as$40-60 in India and so on.
