On December 2, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) announced its plan to exploit mining areas following Bulga coal mine, an existing coal mine in the State of NSW in cooperation with Glencore plc, etc. NSSMC, etc. will work on the exploitation of mining areas following Bulga coal mine within 2014, and start coal production at a new opencast mining area in 2016 and at a new underground mining area in 2018.
