The pig iron import market in East Asia is assessed at a slack level of 430-440 US dollars/MT C&F so far. But market prices could move toward hitting bottom as pig iron suppliers show moves to increase offer prices for new deals. The motivation is enhanced signs of the ferrous scrap import market on track to hit bottom in East Asia. India's MMTC Ltd held its tender in early July to sell 30,000 tons of pig iron, in which a trading company has secured the whole quantity with its successful bid of 417.01 US dollars/MT FOB.
