Ore Output Soon From Two South African Manganese Mines In Kalahari

Two manganese mines, i.e Kudumane and Tshipi e Ntle are to start ore output of 2 - 3 million tpy of ore and of 2.4 million tpy respectively from the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013. Kudumane mine has been developed by KMR, while Tship e Ntle by Tshipi e Ntle Manganese Mining. There is another mine in Kalahari area run by UMK (United Manganese of Kalahari) that started commercial scale operation already in 2011 ahead of the two new mines mentioned above, and produced 2.16 million tons in 2011. All these three mines will produce/is producing lumpy manganese ores of an average grade of 37% manganese.
