Western Mo Oxide Q1-2012 Production Up 7.8% Y-O-Y

Low output from Thompson Creek mine, Idaho, U.S.A. continued through the first quarter of 2012, while the mines in South America increased production of molybdenum concentrates as byproduct from copper mining, resulting in an increase in total from the year-ago quarter. Total production of molybdenum in concentrates in the Q1 (January - March) of 2012 by major miners in the western world was 78.38 million pounds, up 7.8% from 72.70 million pounds in the same quarter of 2011, and up 12.7% from the Q4 (October - December) of 2011.
