Owing to the troubled blast furnace at the Chiba Works of JFE Steel, the quantity of crude stainless steel produced by seven major stainless steel companies in Japan in January of 2010 had a considerable decrease. The Chiba Works of JFE Steel has been producing chrome-based crude stainless steel by means of operating converters, normally on a scale of 60,000 - 70,000 tons per month, but actually produced 16,734 tons of chrome-based stainless steel in January of 2010, which had a considerable decline compared with that ( 76,091 tons ) produced in December of 2009.
