35% Of Ore Transshipments At Baosteel Majishan Port Used By Other Steel Mills--Increasing transshipment services for others contributes to costs reduction

Increase in the number of steel mills that are using Baosteel Group-managed Majishan Ore Terminal is contributing to the enhancement of the Company's profitability. In 2009, transshipment volume of imported iron ore for other steel mils accounted for 35% of the total cargo throughput of Majishan Port, Baosteel has reported. Majishan Ore Terminal is located on Majishan Island in the Zhoushan Archipelago some 60 nautical miles (110 km) from Shanghai Wusongkou, and about 80 nautical miles (148 km) from Baosteel's raw materials handling wharf. Imported iron ore that comes into Majishan Port is trasnsshipped onto middle to small-sized vessels for further transport to raw material stockpiling yards located elsewhere in the country.
