Doctors have called on the UK government to set up a national telephone helpline for people addicted to prescription drugs. The 24-hour helpline would be similar to the FRANK support service for young people who abuse drugs, and would be part of a wider programme to help patients with prescription drug addiction issues, as well as the health professionals looking after them, according to the proposals from the board of science of the British Medical Association (BMA).
