Despite the existence of highly efficacious treatment, amoebic dysentary remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in large parts of the world. It is, however, an infectious disease of which members of the public and many healthcare professionals in the UK may be unaware. As such, this case report highlights a number of important learning points for pharmacy staff working in primary or secondary care.
